ABU DHABI, 8th September, 2022 (WAM) — With 100 days to go before the ever-popular ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon, the organisers unveiled a series of exciting events at a press conference at ADNOC Business Centre today. renew.
Enhancements include a new citywide marathon route that passes many of the capital’s most famous landmarks, and an expanded horse racing village that includes many of Abu Dhabi’s leading sports clubs, platforms, events and initiatives. The initiatives are the result of a community engagement survey commissioned earlier this year, with previous participants and UAE community members providing their thoughts and feedback.
Aref Hamad Al Awani, secretary-general of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said at the event that the changes to the event will ensure that participants enjoy matchdays more than ever. “ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon is already a very successful and much-loved event on the UAE sports calendar. After consulting our community through an extensive participant outreach survey, we listened to their feedback and took action. This year’s marathon will once again be held at ADNOC headquarters, and the founding title sponsor will continue to work closely with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council to further enhance the quality of the event.

Marathon events include a 42km full marathon; Marathon Relay – a 21km – 10km route for two participants each; in addition, there are 5km and 2.5km family fun runs.
This year’s marathon on Saturday, December 17, 2022, will give runners more time to prepare and train in cooler temperatures. The recently announced Community Race Series also provides an opportunity for new and aspiring runners to experience the race environment, try out different distances, and improve their technique and stamina before a marathon.
The first game of the Community Series was held at Yas Mall on September 3rd and was sold out. The second event, scheduled for October 8 at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain, includes 3km, 5km and 10km outdoor runs. The final will take place at Yas Marina Circuit on November 5, with 3km, 5km and 10km races and a chance to run a 21km half marathon.
