ABU DHABI, 22nd March, 2023 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Sports Council, ADSC and ADNOC today confirmed that the next edition of the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon will take place on 16th December, 2023.
Following President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s proclamation that 2023 will be the “Year of Sustainable Development”, the fifth edition of ADNOC’s Abu Dhabi Marathon will place greater emphasis on sustainability. Continuing development, several initiatives focus on minimizing environmental impact incidents and reducing waste.
The ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon builds on the efforts of ADNOC and ADSC to encourage healthier and more active lifestyles, providing support and training to runners of all abilities, including the determined, to enable them to start or to continue their health journey.
“We are delighted to announce new dates for the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon,” said Suhail Abdulla AlAreefi, Executive Director, Events Division, Abu Dhabi Sports Council. “The 2022 edition, held on a stunning new urban course covering the UAE capital’s most famous landmarks, was a huge success, attracting more than 20,000 participants from across the UAE and beyond.”

In addition to the flagship event on December 16, organizers are pleased to announce that the Marathon Series will once again offer year-round participation and training opportunities designed to prepare runners for the main event. The first community race will be held in Abu Dhabi on September 2, featuring a short indoor run. The second event is scheduled for 7 October in Al Ain. The series will kick off with a half marathon on 4 November at Abu Dhabi’s iconic Yas Marina Circuit.
In preparation for the marathon, an eight-month free training program will be launched after Ramadan. Led by experienced coaches, classes will be offered across the UAE and are designed to help runners of all levels prepare for their chosen distance.
