Emirates News Agency – ADQCC launches verification service for pre-packaged products

ABU DHABI, 12th June, 2022 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, ADQCC, has announced the launch of a new service for the verification of pre-packaged products manufactured in Abu Dhabi to ensure they comply with UAE laws and Specifications and conditions stipulated by regulations Specifications regarding the validity of information, quantities, units of measurement volume, length and area.

The task of ADQCC is to monitor pre-packed products to ensure the consistency of the information cards accompanying the products, including the nominal quantity, the unit of measure in which the product is announced, the validity of the quantity of product in the pre-packed product, verifying that it is ready for direct sale in Abu Dhabi Fixed and variable nominal value of pre-packaged products, as well as locally packaged manufactured or imported products using units of weight, volume, length, area or quantity.
Inspection services for prepackaged goods circulating in the local market include monitoring five types of prepackaged goods; solid packaging, liquid packaging, solid packaging in liquid (net weight), packaging sold by unit, and packaging sold by length and area.
The committee has also successfully implemented the first and second phases of Abu Dhabi’s Tire Pressure Measuring Equipment Validation Services to enhance the safety and security of Abu Dhabi’s roads and strengthen the integrated transport ecosystem according to global best practices and standards.
The first phase of the tire pressure measuring device verification service includes ADNOC stations and sales outlets, and the second phase includes tire sales and repair shops.
The launch of the new service is part of the council’s plan to develop an ecosystem of quality and compliance services in Abu Dhabi to effectively participate in increasing the level of compliance with relevant legislation and technical regulations, and to improve the safety and quality of products for the benefit of the emirate’s economy, Quality and social prosperity, ensuring a safe and fair market.

Tire pressure measurement equipment verification services reflect ADQCC’s passion to put consumers first and provide them with the highest level of safety on the road by increasing the level of compliance with tire pressure conditions and specifications. This new service is part of the Council’s ongoing efforts to create a safe and fair market in Abu Dhabi by ensuring the accuracy of legal measuring instruments across Abu Dhabi.
The service complies with the mandatory requirements stipulated in the relevant laws and regulations, in particular Regulation No. 75 of 2016, organizing the UAE Statutory Measuring Instruments, and Regulation No. 16 of 2018, which covers 11 measuring instruments, including tire pressure measuring devices.
Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Executive Director, Market and Consumer Sector, ADQCC, said: “Tire pressure measuring equipment verification services are part of ADQCC’s supervisory responsibilities, in line with the requirements and obligations of the licensing agreement signed between the Council and the Ministry of Industry. Dhabi continuously validates legal measuring instruments and pre-packaged products including barometric measuring equipment as well as ensuring personal safety and improving service levels according to the best global compliance and quality standards across all sectors and areas of Abu Dhabi.
“The tire pressure measurement equipment verification service contributes to the implementation of the Vision Zero strategy initiated by the Joint Traffic Safety Committee to reduce road accident fatalities towards the goal of zero fatalities,” he added.

Al Mazrouei affirmed the Abu Dhabi Quality and Compliance Council’s keenness to innovate services and initiatives that will help realize the directives of Abu Dhabi’s wise leadership to implement the vision, principles and objectives and quality, and by encouraging producers to adhere to specifications and conformity, enhancing their ability to compete locally, regionally and internationally, while incentivizing consumers to prefer products bearing a mark of trust, and catering to the wishes and needs of society, improve their standard of living.
“ADQCC’s Market and Consumer Department is leading the development of an annual plan to monitor pre-packaged products, including visits to the most important manufacturers and suppliers in Abu Dhabi to verify packaging produced by factories or imported by companies, as well as market adoption at direct selling outlets. Samples of different products circulating on the Internet are tested in the committee’s laboratories according to specific criteria to test validated pre-packaged products, including their relevance to consumers in the emirate, their consumption and their economic value. Also through the Abu Dhabi Government’s call centers or social media channels to handle consumer complaints”. Al Mazrouei added.
