ABU DHABI, 19th March, 2023 (WAM) — Abu Dhabi University, ADU, in its ongoing efforts to develop students’ innovative thinking and competitive learning opportunities, has concluded its first Future Mobility Challenge.
The challenge is organized by the University’s Faculty of Engineering in partnership with Global EEE, a US-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that hosts competitions focused on education, energy and the environment for students around the world, 3elm Education and Training Consultants and American Mission UAE, 18 March at Al Hudayriyat Island.
The event saw the participation of international delegations from the US, Italy, Qatar and Egypt, as well as 15 high schools and 6 universities from across the country’s academic ecosystem. In addition, more than 400 people participated in the event to cheer for the participating teams.
21 teams participated in two competitions, the High School Student Electric Vehicle Grand Prix and the University Student Electric Vehicle Global Challenge.
In these competitions, participating teams present their unique designs and outstanding projects to the members of the jury.
The jury announced the winning teams at the awards ceremony, marking the end of the event. The teams demonstrated their commitment to innovation, sustainability and the necessary criteria for design’s environmental impact.
The first place went to the girls’ team from Maryland, the second place went to the Choueifat SABIS Ruwais International School team, and the third place went to the Italian team.
In addition, teams and individuals are recognized and awarded in other categories including: Fastest Qualifying Time, Technological Innovation, Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Awards and Best Team and Event Promotion (Website, Social Media, etc.) and Most Best Use of 3D Printing, Safety, Craftsmanship, Automotive Graphics, Sportsmanship, Best Photo and Best Video.
Professor Ghassan Aouad, Rector of Abu Dhabi University (ADU), said: “The Future Mobility Challenge provides a platform for students to showcase innovative thinking and acquire soft skills through teamwork, time management and other skills. At ADU, we are committed to investing in scientific research programs that advance our faculty and students’ innovative and creative thinking.”
The competition is supported by several key partners, including MathWorks®, ProjoTech, Al Nabooda Automobiles and EVIS (Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit).
The Future of Transport Challenge provides a unique opportunity for students and researchers to showcase their skills and contribute to the development of the UAE’s transport sector.
