ABU DHABI, 2nd August, 2022 (WAM) — MAKTABA, the library management department of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), will host its popular annual MAKTABA Summer Camp from 1st to 28th August, 2022 , to enhance the creativity and entrepreneurial skills of children and teens through fun knowledge-building sessions.
The program will cover a variety of artistic and educational activities through interactive workshops for different interests and age groups.
Shaikha Almehairi, Director of Library Management, DCT Abu Dhabi, said: “This year, the MAKTABA Summer Camp focuses on enhancing the leadership skills of the participants, stimulating their creativity and encouraging them to execute their innovative ideas by presenting real-life experiences. “Successful entrepreneur and pioneer in every field. As part of the summer camp, the 2022 Summer Reading Challenge will invite children ages 6 to 16 to participate in the challenge and read 30 books by August 28, 2022 for a chance to win various prizes. Parents will be able to join the challenge by reading six books in six weeks.
Interactive events and workshops at the MAKTABA summer camp will include ‘Create a business from drawings’, ‘Make money from your talent!’ and culinary workshops led by young Emirati chef Aysha AlObeidli and others.
There will also be a series of management and leadership skills workshops led by experts in both fields to improve children’s entrepreneurial skills, such as “How to Manage Your Finances”, “50 Skills for Leaders!” and “Investing” “Strategy! These courses will teach participants how to use modern financial planning techniques to manage their finances according to their needs and income. They will also identify portfolio allocation mechanisms and highlight the most prominent essential leadership skills needed by today’s youth.
The Action workshop will cover communication through social media so that children can create safe and useful content in a digital age dominated by social media. For those with a sweet tooth, “How to Make Tiramisu at Home?” will tell the story of starting a home candy-making business and selling products on Instagram.
Camps will also offer inspiring educational talks, interactive reading workshops and a range of activities for those with artistic and literary talents.
