ABU DHABI, 11th October, 2022 (WAM) — During its participation in GITEX Global Week 2022, Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH) and ADQ have signed an agreement to support Abu Dhabi’s vision of becoming a global leader Healthcare and life science research and innovation.
The MoU was signed by Deputy Health Minister Dr Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi and ADQ Executive Director of Healthcare and Life Sciences Fahad Al Qassim in the presence of DoH Chairman Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Hamed.
As part of the MoU, the two entities will establish a steering committee to manage and oversee all projects that will result from the collaboration in clinical research, evidence generation and innovation by leveraging the assets and capabilities of both parties to enhance synergies across the research and innovation value chains.
The council will lead a governance system and roadmap led by representatives from all parties to handle individual workflows in an efficient and flexible manner.
Additionally, DoH and ADQ seek to enhance synergies between UAE start-ups to improve healthcare outcomes and contribute to Abu Dhabi’s globally competitive knowledge-based economy.
DoH supports start-ups at different stages of development, from ideation to introduction and expansion into international markets. The division is currently supporting more than 60 licensed start-ups and communicating with more than 300 start-ups around the world, covering healthcare digital, diagnostics, devices and medicines.
Dr Al Kaabi said: “As directed by our wise leadership, our collaboration with leading entities such as ADQ echoes Abu Dhabi’s ongoing efforts to position itself as a leading life sciences destination and innovation incubator and accelerator. Through this agreement , we aim to further enhance our research capabilities to increase the resilience and sustainability of the industry, which reflects the quality of healthcare services provided to the Abu Dhabi community.”
For his part, Al Qassim said: “As part of a transformational strategy aimed at further improving the quality of outcomes in the healthcare industry, ADQ continues to support prestigious events such as GITEX to explore opportunities and work collaboratively with global strategic partners for medical technology, innovation and lay the foundation for an AI-driven future.”
