ABU DHABI, 5th September, 2022 (WAM) — The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) today announced the launch of the third-generation UAE passport and the trial operation of a new advanced visa system, which will be launched in 2022. Effective October 3rd.

The new generation of services has been developed to the highest safety and technical standards to facilitate customers and accelerate the UAE’s economic and sustainable development drive.

The latest batch of services was launched at a ceremony at the Emirates Palace in the presence of ICP Chairman Ali Mohammed bin Hammad Al Shamsi, as well as executives and officials from the Authority, as well as a number of partners.

In his opening remarks, the ICP Chairman affirmed that developing services for a variety of clients is the Authority’s top priority, adding that the ICP team’s efforts have made significant progress, particularly in innovating new services that improve client satisfaction.

He explained that the launch of the third generation of premium services is yet another testament to the Authority’s commitment to fulfilling the directives of the UAE leadership to fully digitize all services and develop pioneering services.

Al Shamsi added that the new generation is more comprehensive, covering all beneficiary categories, including citizens, residents and tourists, through an integrated ecosystem of services, systems, projects and initiatives.

He went on to say that the launch of the new generation of services is a huge step forward for us as it enhances the tourism appeal of the UAE, especially as our ambitious vision for the future will help to revolutionize government services for generations to come.

The authorities held a press conference earlier today to announce the launch of the third-generation UAE passport and the trial operation of the new advanced visa system.

Investors, business owners, residents, tourists, talents and job seekers can take advantage of the new advantages offered by the UAE’s upgraded visa system, ICP said in a press release.

It added that all categories will be able to use the services provided by the new visa system by visiting the ICP website or using the smart app, which will become operational after the implementation of the new regulations which will come into effect on October 3.

Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the ICP, commended the UAE Cabinet’s decision to pass the implementing regulations of federal laws to regulate the entry and residence of foreigners in the UAE at such a critical time.

He also noted that the launch of the new UAE passport and new regulations, including benefits, facilities and new and diverse visa categories, will meet the needs, aspirations and hopes of citizens, residents, investors and those looking to work and live. in the UAE.

He then highlighted the UAE leadership’s passion for family reunification and improving the quality of life, and investing in the potential of people with talent and expertise who could help drive economic growth and sustainable development, and work to attract people from around the world. capital and talent.

Al Khaili added that the new updated visa system includes simplified processes, controls and procedures, as well as new facilities to support the authorities’ approach to providing pioneering services, which are in line with the 50 principles and meet the future needs of all categories of foreigners and residents.

He further added that holders of valid UAE passports can use them until they expire and then apply for new passports through ICP’s website or smart app or through the country’s embassies and consulates. The new UAE passport features a new modern design with the latest technology and security features.

“The new generation of passports is printed on polycarbonate material using laser technology rather than paper, which makes it difficult to damage, tear or counterfeit, and ensures faster printing and greater security,” said Al Khaili.

Major General Sultan Yousef Al Nuaimi, Director-General of Residence and Foreigners Affairs of the ICP, said that the new federal law implementing regulations will include an updated visa regime that will help drive sustainable development and economic diversification by attracting skilled labour and specialists. and talents serve the country.

The advanced visa system includes many residency types, with new ones added to cover all sectors of investors, entrepreneurs, scientists, experts, outstanding students and graduates, humanitarian pioneers, front-line workers and skilled workforce, in addition to simplifying All field programs, he added.

Major General Khamis Al Kaabi, Director General of ICP Support Services, said the authorities had taken all necessary measures to ensure the successful implementation of the new visa regime in record time.

He noted that the new system offers many conveniences, including a renewable 5-year green residency visa, which has many advantages, such as enabling holders to easily issue residency permits for family members, and for up to 6 years after expiry. A flexible grace period of one month or cancellation of a residence visa.

Al Kaabi explained that the advanced visa system offers golden visa holders new advantages, including the fact that the visa remains valid regardless of the length of the holder’s stay outside the UAE, the removal of restrictions on the number of sponsored domestic workers, It also provides convenience for families. Even after the death of the sponsor (golden visa holder), the member can remain in the country for the duration of the visa.

He added that the new visa regime allows entry to the country for a variety of purposes, with flexible visit periods and easy renewals of up to one year, without sponsor requirements, enabling tourists and job seekers to achieve their ambitions.

He also paid tribute to Major General Mubarak bin Sannan Al Mutairi, who retired after more than 30 years of service at the ICP, for his diligence and tireless efforts in developing the work and services of the ICP.
