ABU DHABI, 9th March, 2023 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Accountability Authority, ADAA, will host the International Ethical Standards Board for Accountants’ (IESBA) annual board meeting for the first time in the region. The conference will be held at the Abu Dhabi Energy Business Center from 13-17 March 2023 under the theme ‘Building an Ethical Foundation for Sustainable Development’ as part of the UAE’s Year of Sustainable Development.
More than 55 international board members are expected to attend the event to discuss ongoing projects, deliberations and group statements, including a range of projects managed by IESBA members.
Wael Abdul Qader, Acting Head of ADAA’s Oversight and Audit Division, chaired the session to highlight the application of ethical standards and practices in accounting and auditing.
IESBA President Gabriela Figueiredo Dias referred to the timing of the meeting as it aligns with the UAE’s “Year of Sustainability” and the ADAA’s commitment to promoting accountability, integrity and transparency match. The conference will enable their work and messages to reach new audiences, helping to promote ethics as an integral part of sustainable business and economies globally.
The International Ethical Standards Board for Accountants is an independent global standard-setting body responsible for implementing a code of ethics for professional accountants, developing a framework of ethical principles for accountants and auditors, ensuring the convergence of national and international ethical standards, and the application of independent international standards.
