ABU DHABI, 1st December, 2022 (WAM) — In the presence of Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Abu Dhabi-based Lulu Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Elite Agro Holding to Sourcing and promoting locally grown vegetables, in addition to launching ‘Khair Al Emarat’ to promote local produce.
Dr. Abdulmonem Almarzooqi, CEO of Elite Agro Holding, and Saifee Rupawala, CEO of Lulu Group, signed the MoU in the presence of Yusuffali MA, Chairman of Lulu Group, Lulu Hypermarket, Abu Dhabi.
As part of the agreement, Lulu Group will source 15,000 tonnes of fresh fruit and vegetables from Elite Agro over the next year, which will be promoted and sold through all Lulu hypermarkets in the UAE.
Dr Almarzooqi, Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of Elite Agro Holding, said: “Our agreement with LuLu Group, one of the largest retailers in the GCC, Asia and Africa, enhances our local produce from farm to table – grown Fresh varieties of healthy fruits and vegetables. We look forward to strengthening our relationship with LuLu Group through this MoU and increasing the production of high-quality locally grown food that our customers can rely on.”
“Furthermore, this MoU underscores Elite Agro’s commitment to increasing local farm production capacity and enhancing the UAE’s food security and competitiveness. We firmly support the recently announced UAE Vision 100% increase in investment,” he added.
Yusuffali MA commented: “We are very proud and excited to join hands with Elite Agro Holding to source and promote locally grown vegetables. As a key stakeholder in food security in the country, we have always supported the UAE’s agricultural sector and I trust this MoU It will further expand the market and visibility of locally grown produce.”
