Emirates News Agency – Local media: UAE a bastion of care for all

[ad_1]

ABU DHABI, 30th December, 2022 (WAM) — A local English-language daily has praised the UAE leadership for its comprehensive prioritization of the well-being of its people. Social welfare programs in the UAE cater to groups such as widows, divorced women, the disabled, the elderly and orphans.

Now, in a major development, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced that it will be enrolled in the Unemployment Insurance Scheme from 1 January 2023. In this regard, it has urged Emirati nationals and residents working in the UAE, the federal government and the private sector to subscribe.

“The scheme creates a low-cost job safety net that supports workers in their careers and provides them with job stability at no cost to employers,” Gulf Today said in an editorial on Friday.

“This is primarily a blessing for those whose services have been terminated (except for disciplinary reasons or resignation). They will receive cash compensation for up to three months,” the paper added.

Thankfully, the monthly fee is very low. Subscription fees depend on the employee’s base salary. The first category is those with a basic salary of Dh16,000 or less; their subscription fee is Dh5 per month (Dh60 per year), while the second category is those with a basic salary of more than Dh16,000; Their subscription fee is AED10 per month (AED120 per year).

Premiums can be paid monthly, quarterly, every six months or annually. The insurance premium is calculated according to 60% of the basic salary of the employee in the last six months before unemployment.

Insureds must have subscribed for at least 12 consecutive months to be eligible for cash compensation. However, if they leave the country or take up a new job, they lose their right to claim compensation.

Earlier this year, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan directed that social welfare programs for low-income citizens be restructured into a comprehensive program worth AED28 billion instead of AED14 billion .

The move aims to increase the annual social support allocation from AED 2.7 billion to AED 5 billion.

It continued, “President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed’s directive reflects his passion to support low-income Emirati families to ensure family and social stability and provide citizens with a decent life.”

In addition to temporary financial support for unemployed job seekers and unemployed citizens over the age of 45, the package includes financial support for housing and other basic needs such as food, water, electricity and fuel.

Recently, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, in his capacity as ruler of Dubai, approved the total budget of the Dubai government for the 2023-2025 financial cycle, with a total expenditure of AED 205 billion. Ram.

In its 2023 budget, Dubai continues to focus on social services and the development of the health, education and cultural sectors. The budget has also given high priority to the housing sector through Dubai’s Housing Plan as part of its plan for the next 20 years. The budget also focuses on developing social welfare funds to support families, those of determination and those on limited income.

“It’s all a testament to the sincerity and sincerity of the leadership to see that the people don’t need food, clothing, shelter and shelter. Unlike some other countries where there is a huge gap between rhetoric and actual implementation, the government here puts care and concern for all at the top of its agenda number one,” the newspaper said.

The Sharjah-based daily concluded by quoting His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed in his message on the 51st UAE National Day: “The people of the United Arab Emirates remain our top priority. As a nation, we will always continue to create an environment of creativity, innovation and growth, enabling all those who call the UAE home to realize their full potential.”
