ABU DHABI, 11th October, 2022 (WAM) — MAKTABA, the library management arm of the Department of Culture and Tourism, DCT Abu Dhabi, has launched the ‘Cultural Figures’ exhibition, which aims to tell the stories of some of the greatest UAE , Arab and global literary and cultural pioneers.
Organised in partnership with Dubai Culture Authority, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, the exhibition will take place at Al Wathba Library in Abu Dhabi on 30 November 2022.
The exhibition opens with a live painting and music session.
After visiting the exhibition, participants attended a session where authors Nadia Al Najjar and Ahmed Al Assam discussed cultural development in the UAE. Visitors also received an autographed copy of a book “Youssef’s Room” by author Ahmed Al Assam. Musicians from the Bait Al Oud Conservatory then performed musical compositions.
Shaikha AlMehairi, Director of Library Management, DCT Abu Dhabi, said: “MAKTABA works hand in hand with various cultural authorities across the UAE in an ongoing effort to organise artistic events to enrich Abu Dhabi’s cultural scene. Through an exhibition of cultural figures at Al Wathba Library , we aim to inspire and educate our visitors through the stories of some of the world’s greatest artists, while also presenting Abu Dhabi’s own unique landscape of culture, ideas, experiences and shared possibilities.”
Eman Al Hammadi, Manager of Public Library Affairs at Dubai Culture, added: “At Dubai Culture, we are delighted to partner with MAKTABA to present an exhibition of cultural figures, which has been well-received since its debut at the Emirates Literature Festival.
