Emirates News Agency – Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure launches ‘UAE Maritime Network’

DUBAI, 29th September, 2022 (WAM) — The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, MoEI, has announced the launch of the UAE Maritime Network initiative, which aims to support the International Maritime Organization and promote the UAE as a global maritime hub and an ideal environment for maritime investment.

The initiative supports the ministry’s efforts to enhance the profile of the UAE maritime sector globally. The Maritime Network Initiative supports MOEI’s goal of developing and strengthening alternative economic components of the oil sector and is a major contributor to the 50-nation project.

To launch the initiative, the ministry will establish a communications network of various regional and international maritime entities. This will serve as a platform for launching various initiatives, announcing events and events. It will also serve as a knowledge hub for international maritime stakeholders to understand investment opportunities in the UAE maritime industry.

This will create a large think tank and a common platform for maritime companies across the country , to create new opportunities for investment in the industry.”

Al Mansouri added: “Our role in the UAE maritime sector is not limited to managing and operating one of the world’s most important shipping hubs, including shipping, logistics, bunker fuel supply and oil exports, but is also a centre for building bridges. The world’s leading maritime hub Collaboration between clusters, as well as facilitating the exchange of innovative ideas and projects.

“Launching the Maritime Network is one of our key initiatives as we prepare for the next 50 years, especially as the maritime sector contributes over AED 90 billion to the UAE economy annually. organizations that operate under.”

The UAE plays a vital role in global seaborne trade, with more than 27,000 shipping companies operating in the country. The country’s strategic location makes it a major hub for maritime operations in the Gulf Cooperation Council, East Africa and the Indian subcontinent. The UAE has also made innovation one of its top priorities.

The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has been supporting the development of the maritime sector, promoting the adoption of modern technologies, innovative solutions, and working to strengthen the UAE to keep up with the latest developments in the global maritime sector, in addition to meeting international standards for maritime safety and marine environmental protection.

The Maritime Network will serve as a unified portal for maritime companies in the region and globally, with a centralized database. It will also organise events, conferences and panel discussions to bring together government and the private sector to discuss ideas that will help advance the sector and help shape maritime strategies for the next 50 years. Several accelerators will also stimulate the generation of innovative ideas and translate them into global maritime projects.
