ABU DHABI, 13th October, 2022 (WAM) — Abu Dhabi (DoH), the regulator of the UAE’s healthcare sector, has signed a declaration of cooperation with AbbVie Biopharmaceuticals GMBH during GITEX Global 2022.
The joint agreement, signed by Deputy Health Minister Dr Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi and Abbvie Gulf General Manager Hassan Sabbah, lays out a plan of cooperation between the two entities focusing on the three key pillars of research and clinical trials, innovation and health technology assessment, AbbVie Manufacturing and Medical Education in Abu Dhabi.
Through this joint agreement, the Ministry of Health aims to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a life sciences hub by enhancing innovation, healthcare services and treatments available to patients in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The three pillars of the collaboration include increasing the number and quality of clinical trials in Abu Dhabi, exploring opportunities to conduct early stage clinical trials, demonstrating innovative healthcare solutions in Abu Dhabi, and testing and further developing solutions from Abu Dhabi healthcare innovators. Programs, explore potential local manufacturing and secondary packaging of AbbVie products, support AbbVie by exploring opportunities to develop, test, adopt and manufacture new medicines, treatments and technologies, and educational collaborations to establish centers of excellence in different therapeutic areas Zabi builds its life science capabilities.
