Emirates News Agency – Mubadala Arena to host Challenge Jiu-Jitsu festival on May 26

ABU DHABI, 19th May, 2023 (WAM) — The Challenge Jiu-Jitsu Festival will welcome participants, parents and fans with a welcome ceremony at the Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City from 26th to 28th May. We are all excited.

The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s action-packed season schedule features the second of four rounds of bigger, better quality and more competitive competition, with players aged 4-17 from various clubs and academies vying for glory and prizes .

Maiky Reiter, a black belt in jiu-jitsu and father of three, was one of the many parents eagerly anticipating the fun and high spirits at the event.

He said: “As a black belt in jiu jitsu, I have experienced firsthand the benefits of this beautiful sport and I am delighted to see my children follow in my footsteps and excel in their respective fields. Maryah, Ryan and Marcelo are very grateful Excited to be able to showcase my skills and compete with other talented athletes in the UAE.”

He added: “Maria is now nine years old and has been practicing the sport since she was three. She has competed in past Challenge Festivals. Ryan and Marcelo are looking forward to their first competition and we can’t wait to start the Championships .”

Laila Al Kaabi, a mother of two who will be attending the event, also extolled the value and virtue of jiu-jitsu. She said: “I believe Jiu-Jitsu is not just a sport; it is a philosophy and a way of life that teaches discipline, respect and perseverance. My children practice Jiu-Jitsu not only to win medals but also to develop their character and confidence.”

Al Kaabi commended the UAE’s visionary leadership and the UAEJJF’s approach to promoting jiu-jitsu and nurturing young talent. She said, “I am proud to see how far Jiu-Jitsu has come in the UAE, thanks to the support and vision of our leaders and the dedication of our coaches and athletes. The Challenge Festival is a testament to the UAE’s commitment to excellence and innovation , and I am honored to be a part of this vibrant community.”

Fahad Ali Al Shamsi, Secretary General of the UAE and Asian Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said: “The Challenge Jiu-Jitsu Championship is one of the highlights of our season calendar as it showcases the best and brightest in the country and promotes the values ​​and principles of the sport. We are proud of our young athletes and we believe they represent the future of Jiu-Jitsu in the UAE.”

Al Shamsi added that the challenge festival aims to broaden the base of practitioners and inspire more people to embrace Jiu-Jitsu as a way of life.

He said: “We want to create a culture of excellence and sportsmanship where everyone can benefit from the power of jiu-jitsu and the joy of competition. We sincerely invite all interested participants to register as soon as possible to join us Exciting journey.”

Registration for the three-day event remains open and interested participants can register by May 22 to secure their participation.
