ABU DHABI, 28th April, 2023 (WAM) — The New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) Institute plans to hold a series of face-to-face public lectures and a workshop in May to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the Various topics related to development.
Beginning May 1, the event will begin with a presentation titled “COP28 and Beyond: NYU Research to Achieve Net-Zero Emissions.” Emphasis will be placed on the role of research in promoting environmental sustainability, meeting the demands of a growing population for better living conditions and minimizing environmental impact. NYU professors and researchers will discuss the current state of research and future directions for achieving net-zero emissions and promoting a sustainable future.
Nahed Ahmed, assistant director of public programs at the institute, said the upcoming event in May is a significant contribution to the UAE’s Year of Sustainable Development initiative and the country’s preparations for COP28. The events will showcase the UAE’s commitment to promoting sustainable development and environmental protection, providing a platform for experts to share their insights and expertise on key environmental challenges and sustainable solutions, including research, history, urban mobility and marine conservation .
NYU recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the incoming presidency of the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The agreement aims to promote impactful research, knowledge-sharing activities, public programming and youth engagement related to climate change. NYUAD also chairs the University Climate Network, a network of universities and higher education institutions in the UAE that collaborates on public events and youth engagement in preparation for COP28.
