Emirates News Agency – Second ‘Success at UAE Forum’ to be held in Abu Dhabi on 31 May

ABU DHABI, 25th May, 2023 (WAM) — The second edition of the UAE Manufacturing Forum, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, MoIAT, in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, ADDED, and ADNOC, on 31st May, 2023 The day begins on Wednesday in the UAE capital.

Make it in the Emirates, a 300 billion initiative launched under the National Industrial and Advanced Technology Strategy, will be held at the Abu Dhabi Energy Center from 31 May to 1 June.

The forum invites senior policy makers, industry and technology leaders, experts, innovators, entrepreneurs, financial institutions, investors, start-ups and key industry bodies to identify opportunities, announce new partnerships and showcase procurement plans.

Make it in the Emirates serves as a platform for business and government to discuss opportunities, address challenges and explore the UAE’s existing competitive advantages such as incentives, enablers, infrastructure, financing and partnerships.

As one of the region’s key industrial events, the forum will focus on sustainable industrial development, carbon reduction and increasing the contribution of the industrial sector to climate action.

The first day of the forum will consist of three main sessions, with Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology, presenting a panel discussion on enhancing industrial competitiveness through R&D and technology; Malek, CEO of Dubai Holding Asset Management (DHAM); Al Malek; Anna-Karin Rosén, Managing Director, Saab.

The second panel discussion will be held in the presence of Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade; Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of ADDED, and Omar Al Suwaidi, Deputy Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, will work on strengthening value chains and product competition force.

The third panel, Industrial Sustainability and Roadmaps at COP28, will discuss ways to strengthen sustainability practices and standards in the industrial sector and accelerate decarbonization. Majid Al Suwaidi, Director General and Special Representative of COP28 will be present; Yaser Saeed Al Mazrouei, Executive Director, ADNOC Upstream Council; Abdulnasser bin Kalban, CEO, Emirates Global Aluminum; Saeed Ghumran Al Remeithi, Group CEO, Emirates Steel Arkan; Saif Al Qubaisi, Vice President, Investment Company; Alan Smith, CEO, Agthia Group.

Scheduled to take place on the first day of the forum, the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology has launched the Make it in the Emirates Awards to recognize excellence and innovation in the industrial sector.

The awards will recognize industry pioneers, visionaries, national talent and sustainability champions, helping drive the UAE’s transformation into a global manufacturing hub.

The awards aim to showcase the competitive advantages and incentives offered by Make it in the Emirates to boost industrial investment in the UAE and enhance the national sector’s contribution to the achievement of the National Industrial and Advanced Technology Strategy goals in line with the UAE’s decarbonization and sustainable development goals.

The second day of the forum will consist of four sessions; the first will be ‘Growth through Domestic Value’ and will be attended by Saleh Al Hashemi, Head of Commercial Affairs and Domestic Value Department, ADNOC; Abdullah, Assistant Undersecretary, Industrial Development Department, Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology Al Shamsi; Arafat Al Yafei, Executive Director, ADDED Industrial Development Board (IDB); Ahmed Rahma Al Masaood, Deputy Chairman, Al Masaood Group.

The second session “The Role of Industrial Zones” will be attended by Mohamed Al Khadar Al Ahmed, Group CEO, Khalifa Economic Zone Abu Dhabi (KEZAD); Saud Abu Al-Shawareb, Executive Vice President, Industrial Leasing, TECOM Group PJSC; Chief Executive, RAKEZ Group Executive Officer Ramy Jallad; and Fujairah Free Zone Authority Director Sharief Habib Al Awadhi.

A third panel discussion, ‘Competitive Financing as a Key Enabler’ will discuss the importance of innovative financing solutions in driving growth, fostering entrepreneurship and supporting companies. The meeting will be attended by Ahmed Al Naqbi, Chief Executive Officer, Emirates Development Bank (EDB); Hana Al Rostamani, Group Chief Executive Officer, First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB); Khalil Al Mansoori, Acting Director General, Abu Dhabi Export Office (ADEX); Raja Al Mazrouei, Managing Director, ECI; Mohamed Al Marzooqi, CEO, HSBC Middle East.

The second day of Make it in the Emirates concluded with an overview of the UAE as an investment destination and a panel discussion on “Why Make it in the UAE, An Investor’s Perspective” in the presence of Mohamed Al Musharrakh, CEO Sharjah Foreign Direct Investment Office; Abdulla Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Acting Director General, Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO); Amer Kakish, Chief Executive Officer, Ittihad International Investment.

The final session, ‘Local Talent in the Private Sector’, will be attended by Omar Al Suwaidi, Deputy Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; Ghannam Al Mazrouei, Secretary General, UAE Talent Competitiveness Council; and Yaser Saeed Al Mazrouei, Executive Director, ADNOC Upstream Council.

The forum will also host sessions highlighting the UAE’s advanced technologies, industrial investment opportunities, and incentives and enablers aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and business growth. Make it in the Emirates Forum is the premier platform for industry experts and leaders to share their insights on key topics shaping the industry, including industrial automation, the role of technology in driving the industrial sector and the importance of sustainability.

The second Make it in the Emirates Forum will build on the success of the inaugural event in 2022, which brought AED110 billion worth of sourcing opportunities across 300 products across 11 industries.

A total of more than 1,800 representatives participated in the first forum.
