ABU DHABI, 26th May, 2023 (WAM) — The Sorbonne University, Abu Dhabi, in partnership with the Council for Women in Mathematics (CWM), organized the third International Women in Mathematics Day 2023 conference.
The conference serves as a platform to recognize and honor the outstanding contributions and achievements of women in mathematics, in commemoration of International Women in Mathematics Day, which is celebrated around the world every May.
The conference brings together students, researchers, professors, and professionals with backgrounds in mathematics to create a collaborative environment that fosters knowledge exchange and inspires future generations.
The event featured keynote presentations by leading female mathematicians and researchers who shared their research, personal experiences and insights into the challenges and opportunities women face in the field. The talks highlighted women’s groundbreaking work in mathematics and highlighted the importance of gender diversity in the field.
In addition to keynote presentations, the conference included panel discussions and interactive debates on a variety of topics related to mathematics. Lectures provide participants with the opportunity to learn new skills and techniques from experts in the field, furthering their professional development and enabling them to pursue excellence on their path in their chosen field of mathematics.
On the occasion, Dr. Lama Tarsissi, Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the Sorbonne University in Abu Dhabi and Ambassador of the UAE and Lebanon to CWM, commented: “They have overcome the barriers to contributing to the field. “

The 3rd International Women in Mathematics Day conference in 2023 played a key role in promoting gender equality and inclusion in mathematics.
