DUBAI, 14th October, 2022 (WAM) — The Statistics Centre of Abu Dhabi, SCAD, has signed an agreement with Majid Al Futtaim to enhance business-to-government data collaboration, aiming to bring together data from disparate sources to unlock the Combining insights to create new products, services, experiences and outcomes to advance Abu Dhabi’s social and economic aspirations.
The agreement was signed by Dr Haifa Ali Alhamdani, Acting Executive Director, Strategy and Planning, SCAD, and Joe Abi Akl, Chief Corporate Development Officer, Majid Al Futtaim, during GITEX Global 2022 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Cooperation between the two entities will pave the way for comprehensive data sharing for the public good. It will also help SCAD study consumer behavior and consumption patterns in Abu Dhabi. Shared data will also be an important input to the SCAD-generated Consumer Price Index (CPI), which provides monthly estimates of the rate of change in the consumer price basket.
Commenting on the agreement, SCAD Director General Ahmed Mahmoud Fikri said: “SCAD is forging strategic partnerships and exploring opportunities for constructive collaboration with leading private sector institutions to build advanced data networks and provide insights and analysis to support decision-making – Made in Abu Dhabi”.
He added: “SCAD’s agreement with Majid Al Futtaim is a step towards enabling private sector partners to effectively engage in the statistical ecosystem through new and modern data sources, which will contribute to Abu Dhabi’s sustainable economic development. “
Joe Abi Akl said: “Majid Al Futtaim is committed to harnessing his creative use of data and its solutions in advanced analytics to fuel economic growth, enhance decision-making and deliver groundbreaking experiences designed to improve the lives and well-being of the community. Working with public entities such as SCAD allows Majid Al Futtaim to use his extensive insights for the greater good through this new data sharing initiative. We hope to support data and The country where analytical capacity has the greatest impact on the country and its people”.
The agreement highlights collaboration between government and private sector organisations that will benefit Abu Dhabi’s society and help SCAD to further improve its statistical methodology, in line with Abu Dhabi’s vision.
