ABU DHABI, 25th May, 2023 (WAM) — The 32nd Abu Dhabi International Book Fair in 2023 will feature Turks as Guest of Honor, with programmes, events and seminars that will discuss the relationship between Turks and the Arab world. cultural exchange.
Turkiye participates through an official delegation of more than 60 writers, authors and publishers, 40 publishing houses, 30 cultural and professional projects, music and culinary performances, and Turkish literary history events.
The Turkish Dervishes Mevlevi Band will perform to the audience at the Abu Dhabi cultural event, showcasing Turkish traditions, while the Turkish Pavilion will feature a number of prominent publishers and partners, including the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ICOC).
Emrah Kisakürek, spokesman for the Turkish Pavilion and head of the organizing committee of the Istanbul Publishing Scholarship Program, said that this year the Turkish National Pavilion, accompanied by 20 publishers from the ICOC and the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, aims to showcase Turkish culture, fiction, poetry, History and literature of all genres, this year the pavilion will feature ten works translated from Turkish to Arabic.
Kisakürek highlighted the special relationship with Emirati publishers over the years, emphasizing their increased focus on Emirati publishers this year, in addition to supporting them with new works and translations.
He also explained that this year the Turkish Pavilion will feature a series of books on the central figure of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair and the Arab philosopher Ibn Khaldun, as well as a platform containing some of his original manuscripts, some of which have been removed from the Arab Chinese to English.
He concluded by saying that at the end of the exhibition, viewers will see many works translated from English to Arabic, from Turkish to Arabic, and from Arabic to Turkish.
