Emirates News Agency – TWMCC, GWU to host International Women’s Summit 2023 in Abu Dhabi in February

ABU DHABI, 21st December, 2022 (WAM) — The UAE is gearing up to host the International Women’s Summit 2023, to be held in Abu Dhabi on 21-22 February 2023, under the theme “Women Leaders in Role in Building Society “Peace and Social Integration to Drive Prosperity”.

The event will be held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Maternity and Childhood and Supreme Chairman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF).

Organized by the World Council of Muslim Communities (TWMCC) and the GWU, the summit celebrated the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage.

Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of TWMCC, commented: “TWMCC believes that women play an important role in the world, especially their growing role in promoting peace and social integration and shaping a more prosperous future,” adding HH Sheikha Fatima’s sponsorship of the summit further validates her leadership in supporting and empowering women in the UAE, an extension of her extraordinary journey of humanitarian work, he said.

Dr Al Nuaimi explained that the summit is being held in an era that urgently needs a global platform to support dialogue, bring together strengths and perspectives, and find solutions to shared challenges such as gender gaps, domestic violence, social and economic marginalization, and Provide more opportunities for women to lead society.

For her part, GWU Secretary-General Noura Al Suwaidi said that the UAE’s hosting of the International Women’s Summit 2023 under the patronage of HH Sheikha Fatima highlights the UAE leadership’s vision, which sees supporting and empowering women as a key priority matter.

“The summit constitutes a world-class moral commitment to adopt new, more inclusive strategies and solutions to address obstacles to women’s progress and strengthen their vital role in advancing sustainable development and promoting global peace and security ,” Al Suwaidi explained.

She added that the global event, which will feature many world-renowned female leaders, presents an excellent opportunity to strengthen international cooperation to create a new reality where women are more empowered as leaders and decision-makers, which Consistent with the UAE’s efforts to create an enabling environment for the growth of women.

The summit will feature women pioneers in politics, religion, business, society, culture and science.
