ABU DHABI, 24th November, 2022 (WAM) — The UAE hosted the meeting of the Global Coalition Against Daesh Stabilization Organization, chaired by Sultan Mohammad Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, International Development Affairs, and at the Joint leadership of the UAE, Germany and the US.
The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) in Abu Dhabi.
The meeting focused on a variety of topics related to supporting stability in areas of Syria and Iraq liberated from Daesh; providing economic assistance to refugees and displaced persons in the Al-Hol and Al-Jada’a camps and social inclusion; providing health, education and other basic services, such as energy; creating jobs; and promoting food and water security.
In his opening statement, Al Shamsi emphasized the UAE’s determination to continue participating in international efforts to achieve stability in regions liberated from the Islamic State. He noted that for some time to come, the global coalition against Daesh aims to ensure the successful return of displaced persons and refugees to communities in liberated areas.
He also said the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views, explore further cooperation and expand the coalition’s long-standing efforts to combat the Islamic State.
