BALI, 3rd September, 2022 (WAM) — Sharif Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, has affirmed the UAE’s commitment to engage constructively with the international community to address challenges facing the global energy sector with a view to Promote efforts to achieve international stability.

“The UAE is also keen to continue its efforts to develop the energy sector, especially clean energy, and to invest in the future with a realistic vision to drive global prosperity,” Al Olma said at the first G20 Energy Transition Ministerial in Bali, Indonesia, on Friday, the G20 chair. country. The theme of Indonesia’s G20 presidency is “Common Recovery, Stronger Recovery”.

”We in the UAE are keen to maintain constructive cooperation and engagement with our international partners to obtain an appropriate energy mix that meets environmental protection objectives and reduces CO2 emissions. The UAE is ready to share its experience in clean energy and work with regional and international partners to strengthen its position in the industry and prepare it for the next 50 years as it sees the industry as an important enabler of sustainable development And the driving force, the main attraction of foreign investment,” he said.

He added that the UAE is at the forefront of energy diversification and adoption of sustainability-driven technologies to achieve climate neutrality, a key priority for the UAE government.

He noted that the UAE has launched many initiatives and projects to support this trend.

During the G20 Energy Transition Ministerial Meeting, G20 energy ministers and major international energy organizations discussed key issues such as the G20 Energy Transition Action Plan, the G20 Presidency Roadmap, ensuring energy access, expanding energy technologies, advancing energy financing, and other key issues to achieve net zero Emissions (NZE) or carbon neutrality paving the way.

Al Olma met with Dutch Minister of Climate and Energy Policy Rob Jetten and US Deputy Energy Secretary David Turk, respectively, to discuss the prospects for joint cooperation on sustainable development and preparations for the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP 28), The UAE will host in 2023.
