NEW DELHI, 28th January, 2023 (WAM) — The Ministry of Health and Prevention, MoHAP, is participating in the first G20 India Health Task Force meeting on 18th-20th January, 2023 in India.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss priorities for the G20 health track during India’s presidency this year.
India’s G20 presidency said that during its presidency, it will focus on health emergency preparedness and response, strengthen collaboration in pharmaceuticals, and focus on availability and accessibility of safe, effective, quality and affordable medical countermeasures Accessibility, including but not limited to, vaccines, treatments and diagnostics, and digital health solutions to help achieve universal health coverage and improve healthcare delivery.
Led by Dr. Yousif Mohammed Al Serkal, Director-General of UAE Health Services, the MoHAP delegation expressed its gratitude to India for inviting the country to join the health task force and acknowledged their willingness and support to work with India to achieve the desired results as their priority.
Al Serkal emphasized that the UAE’s participation in G20 events reflects the country’s commitment to play a significant, effective and influential role in international efforts aimed at addressing global health challenges.
He highlighted the need for greater coordination and collaboration to upgrade health systems and support the Sustainable Development Goals, especially in terms of providing safe and effective medical supplies, treatments and vaccines and ensuring that all communities around the world have access to these resources.
During the meeting, MoHAP emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation and coordination among countries to respond to global health crises, especially epidemics, and made recommendations for prioritizing cooperation for efficient use of resources.
In the medical value tourism segment, the delegation demonstrated the UAE’s capabilities and achievements in the field of medical value tourism, and made suggestions for strengthening “medical value tourism” on a global scale.
