Yogyakarta, 30th September, 2022 (WAM) — Dr Sous-Sherpa Abdulnasser Alshaali, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs, Ambassador-designate of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of India and UAE G20, led a delegation from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation , the Ministry concluded its participation in the third G-20 Sherpa meeting in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, from 27 to 29 September. The meeting follows a number of G-20 ministerial meetings held in recent months.
The third facilitator meeting brought together official representatives of G20 member countries, guest countries and international organizations to begin drafting the G20 Leaders’ Declaration and discuss preparations for the November 2022 Leaders Summit.
Alshaali commended the Indonesian President for developing a concise zero-draft leaders’ declaration, incorporating the UAE’s proposal, which broadly reflects the outcomes of the G-20 working groups and ministerial meetings. He also conveyed the UAE’s proposal for the text of the declaration, which aims to articulate and strengthen the G20’s commitments in various priority areas, including climate change, environment, energy security, digital transformation and tourism.
Established in 1999, the G-20 is an intergovernmental forum composed of representatives of the world’s largest economies dedicated to strengthening international economic cooperation.
