GENEVA, 14th March, 2023 (WAM) — The United Arab Emirates is participating in the annual World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum, which opened here today.
The Summit is a global multi-stakeholder platform to facilitate the implementation of WSIS Action Lines to advance sustainable development.
Speaking ahead of the summit, Majed Sultan Al Mesmar, Director General of the UAE Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), reviewed the UAE’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
“As the world changes rapidly, we must keep pace, anticipating the impact of emerging technologies on our lives, and how to use them to maximize benefits and reduce negative impacts, in order to encourage the development of relevant legal and regulatory rules and regulations,” he said .
The forum provides opportunities for information exchange, knowledge generation and sharing of best practices, while identifying emerging trends and fostering partnerships, taking into account the evolving information and knowledge society.
The event, featuring virtual workshops, will continue in April and May. The theme of the WSIS Forum 2023 is the WSIS Action Line to build back better and accelerate achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
