ABU DHABI, 17th January, 2023 (WAM) — His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has issued a federal law establishing the National Media Office.
The law states that the National Media Office will report to the Minister of the Presidential Court and be financially and administratively independent in carrying out its duties and mandate.
The new entity aims to further develop the UAE’s media ecosystem to serve the national interest and strengthen the regional and international presence of its media sector. It will also enhance collaboration and consolidate efforts among media stakeholders, in addition to empowering a skilled generation to lead the media industry in the country.
The new entity will assume various roles and responsibilities, including developing and implementing national media policy, directives and strategies; proposing, developing and reviewing all national media laws and regulations; coordinating with relevant media stakeholders to align the country’s media vision and messaging Be consistent locally and internationally.
The National Media Office will also be responsible for preparing, assessing and reviewing media coverage of the UAE at home and abroad; maintaining and enhancing the UAE’s reputation; representing the UAE in regional and international media; coordinating with relevant stakeholders, participating in media conferences and events in the UAE and abroad Activity.
