Emirates News Agency – UAE President receives written letter from Maldives President

ABU DHABI, 26th November, 2022 (WAM) — President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has received a letter from President of the Republic of Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Saleh Written letters, the letters talked about the relationship between the two countries.

His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received the letter when he met Abdullah Shahid, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives in Abu Dhabi.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed UAE-Maldives cooperation and prospects for strengthening it in various fields.

Sheikh Abdullah welcomed the visit of the Maldives Foreign Minister and highlighted the special relationship between the two countries and their shared desire to develop these relationships to advance their mutual interests and bring more prosperity to their peoples.

In addition, they reviewed prospects for developing bilateral cooperation in the field of renewable energy as well as efforts to advance global climate action, especially as the UAE hosts the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) next year and its global presence. Leading role and initiatives in addressing climate change.

In this context, the Maldives Foreign Minister commended the UAE’s commitment to hosting COP28 and its groundbreaking climate action efforts and initiatives.

The two sides also exchanged views on some issues of mutual concern as well as the latest regional and international situation.
