ABU DHABI, 12th May, 2023 (WAM) — The United Arab Emirates and the United States of America held the third meeting of the Joint Consular Committee to strengthen and enhance cooperation in all joint consular areas, with the aim of providing excellent consular support and providing Citizens of both countries provide services.
The meeting was chaired by Faisal Eissa Lutfi, Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Sean Murphy, Chargé d’affaires ad interim at the US Embassy in the UAE.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed several issues concerning the joint consular affairs of the two countries, and planned to follow up and develop and strengthen mutual consular cooperation.
Lutfi emphasized the importance of cooperation in the consular field and its role in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, and expressed his appreciation for the positive progress made in consular relations between the two countries this year.
He appreciated the efforts made by both sides to provide excellent consular services and facilitate the exchanges between citizens of the two countries.
He also conveyed greetings from His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, as well as his appreciation for the strong relationship between the two countries in the consular field and his appreciation for the success of the meeting hope, which reflects the aspirations and direction of visionary leadership on both sides.
Lutfi added that the bilateral relations between the UAE and the United States have taken a major leap, which has helped to consolidate and advance these relations at the bilateral and global levels. Murphy in turn praised the UAE’s pioneering status at the regional and international levels and its important role at all levels, stressing the importance of the committee in strengthening the framework for consular cooperation in various fields.
He also praised the development of bilateral relations over the past few years, especially in terms of consular cooperation, emphasizing his country’s desire to develop cooperation and share expertise with the UAE for the benefit of citizens of both countries.
Representatives from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ministry of Interior, Federal Identity and Citizenship Authority, Ministry of Justice, Abu Dhabi Health Services Company, and UAE authorities represented the United States at the meeting.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1972, the UAE and the United States have enjoyed a distinguished and strong strategic and historical relationship based on mutual respect and understanding.
In recent years, through mutual high-level visits, the signing of agreements and memorandums of understanding between the two countries, the two sides have cooperated in various fields, especially in defense, education and other fields, and bilateral relations have made great progress. and economy.
