ABU DHABI, 7th October, 2022 (WAM) — UNEP — Abu Dhabi (EAD) announced today that it is conducting the UAE’s largest-ever youth survey on climate change ahead of its participation in COP27.

Targeting 10,000 young people aged 15-29 in seven emirates, the EAD Youth Climate Change Survey will measure their sentiments and perceptions about the most pressing environmental issues and the impacts of climate change.

“By launching the EAD Youth Climate Change Survey, we are reaching out to youth in the UAE and inviting them to engage in dialogue and potential solutions to climate change; this is especially important as we prepare for the upcoming CO27 in Egypt, the event’s The focus is on delivering actionable solutions to what we believe to be the greatest challenges facing humanity,” she added.

The EAD Youth Climate Change Survey will measure young people’s environmental attitudes and behaviours, as well as their beliefs about personal responsibility to the environment, conservation behaviours, environmental stewardship and sustainability. The survey will also measure the impact of recent single-use plastic policies on changing teenage habits.

Abu Dhabi Environment Agency will work through its Youth Engagement Platform, including the Sustainable Schools Initiative Network of 153 schools, and the Sustainable Schools Initiative, which includes 24 active universities, reaching over 500,000 students, and its stakeholders and Youth Network Program partners to maximize survey participation.
