ABU DHABI, 25th September, 2022 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Environment Agency, EAD, will take part in the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX), the region’s largest event focused on preserving cultural heritage .
The exhibition, sponsored by His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Representative of the Ruler of the Al Dhafra Region, Chairman of the Emirates Falcon Club and Chairman of the EAD, will be held at the National Exhibition in Abu Dhabi on 26 September Center (ADNEC) until October 2, 2022.
The theme of EAD’s participation this year revolves around the “Mission Zero” campaign, with a particular focus on the single-use plastic policy introduced in 2020 through which an emirate-wide ban on single-use plastic bags was implemented in the UAE. Begins in June 2022.
As part of EAD’s vision for the future of Abu Dhabi, the agency has set an ambitious long-term goal to achieve zero consumption of single-use plastic, supported by zero waste and zero carbon emissions, through EAD to all Abu Dhabi Species Impact Zero “Mission Zero” public awareness campaign.
The event will include various offline and online activities targeting all community members, government departments and businesses, especially young people. The main goal is to encourage Abu Dhabi residents to adopt more sustainable environmental alternatives, such as reusable items, to reduce reliance on single-use items while reducing waste. The agency plans to significantly enhance this message during this year’s participation in ADIHEX.
Dr Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of EAD, said: “ADIHEX has so many facets and themes ‘Sustainability and the aspiration to regenerate heritage’ and we are delighted to share our recently launched ‘Mission Zero’ campaign with our audience. We are a very important stakeholder group and we believe they will play an important role in spreading the message of the campaign.
She added: “We look to the public to adopt environmentally sustainable practices to help us achieve our goal of zero use of plastic, carbon emissions and waste. As such, ADIHEX 2022 will be the place where we get our message across and articulate this ambitious Events. The Mission Zero event will allow us to achieve this. We want all visitors to our booth to feel that they are part of our journey towards a better future, especially future generations, who will play a key role in driving change.”
EAD will also showcase the various policies they have implemented in recent years, explaining how these policies contribute to environmental protection and sustainability in Abu Dhabi.
