DUBAI, 17th September, 2022 (WAM) — The Utah delegation of the United States discussed a new economic partnership with the UAE at a meeting in Dubai organized by the US-UAE Business Council, the Office of the Governor of Utah on Economic Opportunities and the Utah World Trade Center.
Led by Governor Spencer J. Cox, the delegation included more than 60 prominent Utah government officials, business executives and community leaders, including First Lady Abby Cox, Speaker of the House Brad Wilson and Speaker of the Senate J. Stuart Adams.
The U.S. delegation spoke with nearly 100 businessmen and women from both sides about strengthening ties with the UAE and opportunities for future cooperation.
In his keynote address, Governor Spencer J. Cox highlighted the UAE’s strong relationship with Utah, stressing the delegation’s keenness to strengthen them and develop joint cooperation in all areas.
Sean Murphy, Chargé d’affaires ad interim of the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi, highlighted the opportunity for UAE-US businesses to co-innovate to further develop trade relations with states such as Utah, noting the diversity of innovative businesses. “The attractiveness of the UAE’s business culture and investment-friendly environment, coupled with the history of innovation demonstrated by Utah, is sure to lead to meaningful partnerships.”
Over two days, the delegation met with key government officials and business organizations in the UAE as well as cultural events. The delegation also discussed opportunities in areas such as healthcare, life sciences, aerospace and defense, transportation and water security. Delegates are divided into specific tracks that match the profession of the delegate and are designed to share experiences and best practices and explore business opportunities in these specialized areas.
