DUBAI, 28th March, 2023 (WAM) — Zayed University has launched the first MSc in Counseling Psychology in the UAE, which aims to equip graduates with the tools needed to succeed in various careers in adult mental health settings skills and knowledge in the public and private sectors.
The announcement is in line with the UAE’s National Wellbeing Strategy 2031 and national policy on promoting mental health, where improving the mental health of the population is a key priority.
The course, which will be taught by some faculty from the Faculty of Natural and Health Sciences, will be open to students from autumn 2023 and will be offered for four semesters at Zayed University’s Abu Dhabi campus.
To allow students to practice theory in the workplace, two practicums will be completed. Participants will have access to a range of resources and support services offered by Zayed University, including dedicated teaching staff, state-of-the-art facilities and a vibrant student community.
Dr Gaelle Picherit-Duthler, Acting Dean of the Graduate School of Zayed University, said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of the new MSc in Counseling Psychology, the latest offering at Zayed University for prospective students.”
He added that the program will provide students with a solid understanding of the field of psychology, providing them with the expertise, knowledge and skills needed to apply psychological theories and models to help adults address a range of psychological problems.
“At a time of growing awareness of the importance of mental health, we believe this program will be a game-changer for students looking to enhance their professional development in this field.
