Emirates reaffirms long-term partnership with Maldives at Expo 2020 – Dubai Blog

Emirates signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Tourism of the Maldives earlier this week, reiterating its long-term partnership with the Maldives. His Royal Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Said Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Airlines and the Group met with the President of the Republic of Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Soo at the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2020 Lord Lich.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Ahmed Khoory, Senior Vice President, West Asia and Indian Ocean Commerce Department, Emirates, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, Minister of Tourism of the Maldives, and Mr. Thoyyib Mohamed, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations.

Also present at the ceremony were: Emirates Chief Commercial Officer Adnan Kazim; Abdulla Al Olama, Emirates Far East, West Asia and Indian Ocean Commercial Operations Regional Manager; Chandana De Silva, Emirates Sri Lanka and Maldives Manager; Emirates Business Analysis Manager Hamad Ustadi; Fathimath Nilfa, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism of the Maldives; Mohamed Khussan, Senior Policy Director of the Ministry of Tourism of the Maldives; and Fazeela Ali, Executive Director of the Ministry of Tourism of the Maldives.

Ahmed Khoory, Senior Vice President, West Asia and Indian Ocean Business, Emirates Said: “Maldives is a very important market in the Emirates network, and we are very pleased to reaffirm our commitment to this island nation today. Emirates has served the country for more than 34 years and we look forward to continuing to strengthen our long-term partnership and promote this Country’s trade and tourism.”

Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, Minister of Tourism of the Maldives, Said: “With more than 1,000 flights and 170,000 passengers arriving in the Maldives this year, Emirates continues to be a very important partner in the Maldives tourism success story. The Ministry of Tourism believes that between Emirates Airlines, Maldives marketing and public relations company MMPRC and the Ministry This tripartite memorandum of understanding will better connect the Maldives with the UAE and the world, support the development of tourism and promote tourism.”

Mr. Thoyyib Mohamed, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Company, Said: “Our relationship with Emirates has spanned more than three decades. The success of the Maldives tourism industry is largely due to our long-lasting and fruitful relationship with airlines-Emirates is no exception. We are no exception. Thank you Emirates for its trust and commitment to the Maldives over the past 34 years.”

The agreement reaffirms the airline’s commitment to the island nation and outlines key measures to continue to support the country’s tourism industry recovery. Since January 2021, the airline has operated the largest number of passenger flights to the Maldives, flying 170,000 passengers from more than 100 destinations to the country, including the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Germany, the United States, and the Czech Republic.
