Emirates plans to launch its newly refitted A380s with the latest premium economy cabins in five new cities – New York JFK, San Francisco, Melbourne, Auckland and Singapore – from December.
The airline will also add more premium economy seats on routes to London Heathrow and Sydney, as its newly enhanced planes feature refurbished cabins and will go into scheduled service.
The airline aims to give customers more opportunities to experience its award-winning premium economy product, and its latest deployment plan will also see 85 A380s re-launch by December, in time for year-end travel.
Emirates’ enhanced A380 aircraft to New York JFK, San Francisco, Melbourne, Auckland and Singapore will operate as follows:
• From 1 December, Emirates will operate its newly converted A380s on EK203 and EK 204 at JFK Airport in New York.
• For Auckland, Emirates will launch its Premium Economy cabin on EK 448 and EK 449 from 15 January 2023.
• From 1 February 2023, Melbourne will be the second destination in Australia to use Emirates’ A380 Premium Economy service. Services will be deployed on EK 406 and EK 407.
• Beginning February 15, 2023, San Francisco will be the second US destination to be served by the retrofitted A380, the EK 225 and EK 226 with a new interior look.
• Emirates’ Premium Economy A380 will land in Singapore for the first time on 1 March 2023, operating as EK 354 and EK 355.
Emirates will also update its flight schedules to London Heathrow, Sydney and New York JFK, with the converted A380 aircraft offering the following services:
• From 15 December 2022, Sydney will be the first city in the Emirates network to offer Premium Economy seats on all flights, with the introduction of the airline’s converted aircraft on EK 414 and EK 415.
• From 1 January 2023, London Heathrow will receive its third daily premium economy service, with new products debuting on EK 005 and EK 006.
• From 15 March 2023, Emirates will operate its second A380 Premium Economy, flying EK 201 and EK 202 to JFK International Airport in New York.
Emirates will also launch A380 service on March 26, 2023, with its maiden flight to Christchurch in premium economy, as an extension of the Dubai-Sydney route, operating EK 412 and EK 413.
Expanding A380 operations
With travel demand at its strongest level in more than two years, Emirates will increase A380 service to 42 destinations by March 2023, giving customers more choice and a better experience. At the same time, the airline is optimizing its network to meet strong demand and increasing its existing flight schedule to more than 400 A380s from Dubai, offering 460,000 A380 seats per week by March 2023, including 81,000 premium cabin seats, providing customers with the best comfort.
By the end of the year, the airline will serve nearly a third of its route network with 85 flagship A380s, as it unlocks more destinations including Houston, Bengaluru, Perth, Auckland, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur, More cities will follow in the coming weeks. Emirates will restore 75% of its pre-pandemic A380 network as the list of cities expands. The airline has also increased the frequency of popular cities that its flagship already serves, bringing greater flexibility and stability to its operations.

Since Emirates launched its premium economy cabin in London, Paris and Sydney, customer response has been overwhelmingly positive, with demand exceeding expectations, demonstrating its appeal and the willingness of travellers to trade in and try the quiet luxury and carefully tailored experience it offers.
In fourth class on the Emirates A380, Premium Economy is located forward of the main deck with 56 seats in a 2-4-2 configuration.
