Emirates Air Cargo, a leader in the global airfreight industry, has taken delivery of its latest Boeing 777-F to increase its fleet capacity and cater to the industry’s significant growth.
Product shipments in the Emirates Cargo segment increased significantly, including pharmaceuticals and fresh produce.
In 2021-22, annual tonnage will exceed 2.1 million tons, an increase of 15%, perishable cargo will exceed 260,000 tons, and pharmaceuticals and valuables will both increase by 17%.
Division Senior Vice President Nabil Sultan said: “The new freighter will help increase our capacity, improve our ability to carry important cargo and facilitate global trade. Despite the challenges this year has faced, the air cargo industry is booming and we have been flat since Exit since the beginning of the pandemic.”

Demand is growing in most global markets, including China. Emirates SkyCargo will now add four more weekly freighter flights to China.
Starting this week, six direct flights will be launched from Shanghai, two from Beijing and four from Guangzhou, adding more than 400 tons of cargo to and from China.
Emirates SkyCargo said it also plans to increase direct flights to Hanoi and Sydney. Other departures from Nairobi are also designated as part of a multi-stop freighter route from DWC to Eldoret International Airport in Kenya.
The flight then goes to Nairobi, then north to Maastricht, Netherlands, then to Zaragoza, Spain, where the 777F will return to DWC. At each stop, freighters unload and reload various types of cargo, including flowers, textiles and medicines, it said.
The new freighter A6-EFU will maintain a fleet of 11 Boeing 777Fs, as the A6-EFG returned to lessors last week.
Emirates SkyCargo’s Boeing 777-F and 777 small freighters have flown nearly 950 charter aircraft over the past 12 months, while continuing to serve the airline’s more than 130 passenger and 11 dedicated cargo destinations. Emirates SkyCargo also provides shippers with cargo belly space in the airline’s fleet of nearly 210 Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 wide-body jets.
Plans are also underway to convert 10 777 passenger jets to freighters, increasing the cargo fleet to 21 by the end of 2026.
Emirates SkyCargo is the launch customer for the Boeing 777-F, which has been at the heart of the airline’s operations since 2009. The aircraft’s range and payload capacity allow time- and temperature-sensitive cargo to be transported quickly and efficiently from origin to destination.
