Emirates SkyCargo signs landmark agreement with United Cargo

Emirates SkyCargo said it had signed an agreement with United Cargo, which follows a new broader historic commercial agreement between the world’s two largest airlines.

Emirates SkyCargo’s statement said this coordination will benefit Emirates Skycargo and United Cargo’s air cargo customers around the world.

Under the terms of the MoU, Emirates SkyCargo and United Cargo will work closely together on a number of fronts, including expanding freight intermodal options and blocking space agreements, pending regulatory approval.

It said this would build on existing freight intermodal arrangements between the two air cargo operators and provide freight customers with additional capacity on a larger global combined network.

The MoU was signed by Nabil Sultan, Senior Vice President Cargo at Emirates, and Jan Krems, President, United Cargo, at the World Cargo Symposium (WCS) – IATA event in London, UK.

“Emirates SkyCargo is committed to being a leader in the global air cargo industry, providing our customers with the highest standards of product and service,” said Nabil Sultan, Senior Vice President, Emirates Cargo.

“Partnering with United, a leading airline in its own right with complementary strengths and networks to our own, will allow us to add value to our customers and help them enter new markets faster, “He says.

Jan Krems, President of United Cargo, said: “Through this transaction, we will have access to Emirates SkyCargo’s high-frequency distribution network through passenger flights to over 100 global destinations and 11 freighter aircraft, and Emirates SkyCargo will have access to More than 200 cities in the UAE. 300 cities in the US and five continents via combined freight.”

“As one of the world’s leading airlines, Emirates SkyCargo is an important player in the industry, and our complementary capabilities allow us to offer new services to customers around the world,” Krems said.
