Emirates has signed three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for the Arab Travel Market (ATM) with Indonesia, Morocco and Zimbabwe.
Emirates has signed MoUs with the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Moroccan National Tourism Office (www.visitmorocco.com) and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority to boost inbound tourism and increase visitor numbers.
The airline reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Indonesia’s tourism industry, with continuous efforts to promote the country as a diverse and exciting travel destination by launching joint marketing campaigns and initiatives. Emirates will further support travel flows to Southeast Asian destinations from key markets in its global network, including the UK, US, Germany, France, Italy and Spain.
The MoU was signed by Orhan Abbas, Senior Vice President Commercial Operations, Far East, Emirates; Ni Made Ayu Marthini, Deputy Minister of Marketing, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. Emirates Chief Commercial Officer Adnan Kazim was also present at the signing ceremony.
strong frame
The partnership between Emirates and Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, first launched in 2021, establishes a solid framework that will enable the airline to help Indonesia’s tourism industry recover. Emirates also announced partnerships with Garuda Indonesia and Batik Air in 2022 to offer passengers more connectivity options to 29 domestic cities beyond Jakarta and Denpasar. In line with its pledge to stimulate more inbound traffic, Emirates will deploy its flagship A380 to Denpasar from 1 June 2023 to meet growing customer demand to the popular destination.
The new partnership between Emirates and the Moroccan National Tourist Office aims to increase tourist inflows and strengthen the country’s attractiveness to new and existing source markets across the airline’s network.
The MoU was signed by Badr Abbas, Emirates Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations Africa, and Mr. Adel El Fakir, Chief Executive Officer, MNTO.
The two parties will plan and explore cooperation around a series of shared marketing activities, including study trips to Morocco, promotional programs and advertising campaigns, as well as joint activities with trading partners in key identified markets in the Gulf Cooperation Council, West Asia and the Indian Ocean, and the Far East.
major progress
Morocco has made significant progress in becoming a popular tourist destination and continues to witness an increase in tourist arrivals, with 11 million tourists in 2022 and a 17% increase in the first quarter of 2023.
Emirates recently began deploying its flagship A380 to Casablanca to meet the growing demand for travel in and out of Morocco. In May 2022, the airline signed a codeshare agreement with Royal Air Maroc, offering customers seamless connectivity and greater choice across both airlines’ networks. Emirates customers can travel to 17 Moroccan destinations outside of Casablanca, and through a codeshare, the airline has been supporting inbound travel to domestic destinations in Morocco such as Agadir, the historic western city of Marrakech, Tangier wait.
Recognizing the potential and appeal of Zimbabwe as an emerging destination waiting to be explored, Emirates will partner with the Zimbabwe Tourism Board to leverage the airline’s global network to further increase inbound visitor numbers.
The MoU was signed by Badr Abbas, Emirates Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations Africa, and Ms Winnie Munchanyuka, Chief Executive Officer, Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA).
