Emirati students at Indian diaspora event excited about country’s growth story – News

Pravasi Bhartiya Divas (PBD), an annual event for the Indian diaspora, welcomed a large Indian diaspora delegation from the UAE to Indore this year, including close to 200 students.

The PBD Congress, the Government of India’s flagship event, which will close on Tuesday, provides an important platform to engage and connect with Indians diaspora and enable the diaspora to network with each other.

Emirati students who participated in the event expressed their enthusiasm to meet the Prime Minister of India, various ministers and other influential personalities in person. These students were part of the largest delegation (approximately 750 people) from any foreign country.

Many students said they felt more enlightened after learning about India’s growth trajectory and success stories.

Diya Shah, a Year 9 student at GEMS New Millennium School – Al Khail, said: “Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan told us about the spread of Indian influence over foreign companies like Google and Microsoft and how successful people like Sundar Pichai and Indra Nooyi People have had a positive impact on the global perception of Indians.He also mentioned the fact that Madhya Pradesh, from a state of tigers, has also evolved into a state of leopards and cheetahs.With the support of their people and government , they can create more national parks and reserves.”

Another attendee, Alaina Manoj, added: “In a special speech, Australian MP Zanet Mascarenhas talked about one of her team members, Ajay Prakash, who owns an education start-up called ‘Edulevel’. She encouraged young people to Opening up about failures, small mistakes, and unleashing the next best innovation.”The Indian diaspora connects two cultures to form one”—she asks us to reflect on our past legacy and what ours will be.

In his inaugural speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed how he sees “pravasi bharatiyas” (non-resident Indians) as “brand ambassadors in foreign lands”.

The Prime Minister highlighted the important role of NRIs in the next 25 years and said that India’s unique global vision and role in the global order will be enhanced by them.

Nandana Praveen from GEMS New Millennium School – Al Khail said, “Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr S Jayashankar began his speech by saying that ‘India is changing before our eyes in spaces and ways never before seen’. He detailed the fact that there are more than 34 million NRIs, many of which have helped India.India is one of the countries hardest hit by Covid-19 and with the help of NRIs it has been able to defeat the pandemic.He tells us how the identity of the diaspora is closely tied to its roots Relevant. He ended with a quote from the Prime Minister of India who said ‘We have kinship with NRIs, not just ordinary passports’.”

At the same time, commemorative stamps “Surakshit Jaayen, Prashikshit Jaayen” (Safe, Receive Training) were issued to emphasize the importance of safe, legal, orderly and skilled migration.

Highlighting his takeaways, attendee Sundaresan Meyyappan from Dubai said, “Indore has been voted the cleanest city in India for the sixth time in a row in 2022. Making a city clean means turning it into an ecological A friendly environment. There are many ways and solutions to achieve this. In order to proactively protect the environment, the Indian diaspora has planted various plants in global gardens. This gives a sense of spirit to all delegates.”

NRIs’ support on full display to improve global economic situation during Covid

Punit MK Vasu, Chief Executive Officer of The Indian High Group of Schools, noted, “It’s an amazing feeling to be in PBD in person after four years.”

Heads of Indian schools in the UAE emphasized that the rally was very excited and energized by the Prime Minister of India himself addressing the rally.

“Our students will have the opportunity to hear the President of India who will address the conference tomorrow (Tuesday).”

Vasu added, “The power of the Indian diaspora has become sharper, better and stronger. The contribution of NRIs and their support to sustain and improve the global economic situation during Covid and post-Covid was on full display at the Congress. This time there was a special focus on the youth of India and how they will play a role in bringing India to the world and the world to India in the future. Students from the Indian High School Group had an interaction with the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and had a personal meeting with the Minister of Health Conversation. This conversation and interaction helps students better understand bureaucrats, public servants and the hard work they do to serve the largest democracy in the world.”
