The UAE Central Cooling Company (Empower) has reported a notable 41.3% increase in the number of buildings using its eco-friendly district cooling services over the past five years.
Earlier this year, the world’s largest provider of district cooling services, the company reported an increase in the number of buildings using its district cooling services, reaching 1,413 by the end of 2021, a 13% increase over the 2020 period.
In 2021, Empower is connected to the most iconic projects in Dubai through district cooling services, most notably Marsa Al Arab, One Za’abeel, The Residences Dorchester Collection, Uptown and Wasl1 and many other large buildings, allowing the company to The district cooling market share reaches 80% in Dubai.

Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, commented: “Today, we are announcing a significant growth in our range of services, once again demonstrating Empower’s ability to continue to grow since its humble beginnings in 2004 with two buildings.”

Of the buildings served in the Empower portfolio, the residential sector tops the company’s client list with 64%, followed by the commercial sector with 15% and the hospitality sector with 14%. In the hospitality industry, more than 17% of Dubai’s hotels are serviced by Empower. The healthcare industry accounts for 3%, and the remaining 4% is distributed in retail, education, entertainment, etc.

Bin Shafar also noted that the continued growth of its project portfolio, the diversity of buildings in various industries using Empower district cooling services, and the company’s expertise allow it to strategically assist developers and property owners in identifying exactly what they need.
