The annual Empty Bowls fundraiser will be held this Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Carson Mall in Carson City.
Empty Bowls is an annual fundraiser that funds Carson City FISH to help those less fortunate throughout the winter while providing attendees with hot meals, live entertainment and handcrafted decorative bowls.
Local artisans start making homemade bowls in June for this annual fundraiser.
Ogres-Holm Pottery hosts bowl nights throughout the year that are free to attend.
Participation is $15 and includes a handcrafted bowl and dinner, with all proceeds going to the FISH Food Bank and Family Restaurant.
Empty Bowls also features live entertainment and holiday music with local school bands from Carson Middle School, Eagle Valley Middle School and Carson High School.
The project began about ten years ago, and the decorative bowls that attendees received were meant to symbolize and remind many of us in our community who encounter empty bowls every day.
