Entertainment Calendar: Class Act Theater presents Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas: The Musical”

Santa Story Time:

The Malcolm Purvis Library in Magnolia is hosting a live family storytelling event featuring Santa for children ages 3 to 5 and their parents on December 14th from 10am to 10:30am. Admission is free, but children are encouraged to register online as space is limited.

The event includes reading a Christmas story and taking photos with Santa. Guests are required to arrive 10 minutes before the event start time and will no longer be admitted five minutes after the event starts.

Christmas Jazz:

Joe Burlison’s Christmas Jazz Concert at Dosey Doe The Big Barn will be held on December 14th at 8pm. Tickets start at $18.

Calendar Male:

Spring Firefighters featured in the 2023 Spring Firefighter Calendar will meet and greet fans at The Island Grill at City Place on December 14th from 5-7pm.

During the event, calendars can be purchased and signed. Proceeds benefit the Spring Firefighter Assistance Fund and Friends of the County Pets.

Networking lunch:

Cy-Fair Express Network will host its annual Christmas Luncheon and Gift Exchange on December 15th at the Springhill Suites by Marriott on the Northwest Expressway at 11:00 am. On-site advance tickets are $30 or $35.

Geovanna Burgess White, who owns Fountain Pointe at Mia Bella and founder of Just Engaged University, will be the master of ceremonies at the luncheon.

White Christmas:

The Class Act Theater will present Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas: The Musical” through December 17th. Tickets start at $20.

Shows are on every Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm and Saturday and Sunday at 2:30pm until December 17th. The musical is based on Paramount Pictures films including the standard “Blue Sky,” “I Love a Piano” and “How Deep the Ocean Is.”

Holiday Folly:

Stageworks Main Stage presents “Holiday Follies 2022” through December 18th. Adult tickets start at $35.

The show celebrates the entertainers who bring the magic to Christmas and is inspired by the vaudeville and goofy acts of decades past. Showings are Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 3pm until December 18th. The show is directed and written by Adam Delka.

Toboggan ride:

Santa will be making local tours in the new Spring Fire Department Ladder 75 twice on December 17th from 11am-2pm and 3pm-6pm

During the fire truck sleigh ride, Santa will tour local neighborhoods and shopping centers and, with the help of local volunteers, distribute presents to local children.

Local Folk Rock:

Houston folk rock band Brightwire and Grifters & Shills will perform at Magnolia’s Lone Pint Brewery on December 17th at 6 pm.

Houston Chronicle music critic Joey Guerra called Brightwire’s “Cracked, Flawed and Flayed” one of the best local albums of 2021, and they’re back with a new EP this year. Grifters & Shills are a married duo who have played together since they met in 2008; they strum guitar and bass, sing about colorful trials and rugged miles, and even cover a little Lightnin’ Hopkins.

Vince King:

Houston performing artist Vince King will pay tribute to Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin with a Christmas-themed concert at Tomball’s Main Street Crossing on December 22-23 at 7pm. Table tickets start at $39.

King is an award-winning Elvis Presley tribute artist who lives in Pearland and also faithfully renditions of Sinatra and Martin’s hits. In February, he will entertain guests on a three-day Caribbean cruise.

Light Park:

Hurricane Harbor Splashtown’s Park of Lights runs from 5:30pm to 10pm daily through January 1st. Admission starts at $29 per vehicle.

The drive-through interactive holiday light experience includes millions of animated LED lights, including a drive-through tunnel billed as the largest of its kind in the world. All lights are synchronized to music played by a low power FM radio station that guests can listen to once in the park. Katy’s Typhoon Texas water park also featured a similar display from the same group.

Four new students:

Four freshmen will perform at The Centrum on December 31st at 8pm. Tickets start at $45.

Presented by the Cypress Creek Arts and Community Foundation, the annual New Year’s Eve Concert featured a selection of great American songs by a quartet of drums, bass, guitar and trumpet.

Masquerade:

Whiskey River North will host a New Year’s Eve Masquerade Ball featuring drink specials and a live DJ. Coverage is $10, but free before 10pm if you sign up for the guest list online.
