The Entertainment Community Fund (formerly the Actors Fund) raised $1.2 million at the 2023 gala. This marks the first evening after Fund’s 2022 rebranding.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Fund’s programs and services that assist entertainment professionals through emergency financial assistance, workshops, support groups, mental health resources and more.

This year, the gala honored philanthropist Glorya Kaufman, film executive and producer Alana Mayo, Tony and Olivier Award-winning producer Tom Kirdahy, and actor, director, writer and producer Tyler Perry. Each of the four received the Entertainment Community Fund Medal of Honor.

The night’s performances included “Some Like It Hot” star Adrienne Hicks, accompanied by composer and lyricist Mark Scheiman, who was just nominated for a Tony Award for his work on the score. “Almost Famous” frontman Solea Pfeiffer also made an appearance, singing “Paper Airplanes” from Tyler Perry’s “A Jazzman’s Blues.” Freshly minted Tony nominee Colton Ryan performed “All the Kids in a Row” from Kander & Ebb’s The Rink.

“Thank you to everyone who joined us in honor of Glorya, Alana, Tom and Tyler for their contributions to an industry of which we are proud to be a part,” ECF President and CEO Joe Benincasa said in a statement China shared. “We are grateful for the dedication of everyone who has made our 2023 Gala such a success and look forward to supporting ArtLife in the year ahead.”

Since 1882, the fund has provided stability to entertainment professionals. By providing career, health and financial services programs, the fund continues to help make life in the arts more sustainable.
