With every update to Crestron Home—and every addition to our ever-expanding line of residential audio—the two watchwords we’ve kept in mind are “quality” and “simplicity.” In short, we want our devices to sound great and be very easy for your customers to use.
Whole house zoom
For example, we are constantly updating our Crestron DM NAX product line for this purpose. We recently added support for Amazon Alexa voice control. What makes this a better user experience is that if you set up a grouping through the Amazon Alexa app, Amazon knows which Alexa microphone you’re talking to. You don’t even need to specify a room. You can simply say something like “Alexa, play Radiohead,” and if you’re in the kitchen, it’ll know that and immediately start playing that content on the DM NAX-powered overhead kitchen speakers.
We also now support the Spotify Connect app, which allows each user to save favorites. Do you like listening to classical music in the morning? It can be recalled with just one touch using any Crestron Home device, including presets from the keyboard.
As far as zooming in, we’ve also added new components like DM-NAX-4ZSP Preamps offer dealers more flexibility than separate integrated amplifiers. Crestron Home gives users complete control over the four-zone Crestron DM NAX streaming preamp, featuring the latest in next-generation IP audio technology.
New Crestron/Origin Acoustics speakers, too
As far as speakers go, Crestron decided to produce something that really shines, given that our new amps are pushing for an increase in power. Eventually, Crestron formed a partnership with Origin Acoustics.
A few years ago, Origin changed the game with its unique “bayonet ring” assembly that greatly simplifies speaker installation. While we like Origin’s existing models, it’s always important to us to differentiate Crestron models. We rebuild speakers from the ground up using unique driver assemblies to meet the demanding needs of our audio products and use cases. This work has resulted in two new product lines from the Crestron/Origin partnership – our Reference and Ultimate speakers.
Why two lines? After seeing some competitors offer dozens of speakers (often all with the same size opening) at different prices, we tried to simplify things for our customers. Reference is an excellent benchmark product at a competitive price Ultimate is a premium solution without compromise. Both product lines offer a full range of in-wall, in-ceiling and subwoofer solutions.
The Ultimate further differentiates itself with a ceramic-coated aluminum dome tweeter. Due to the rigidity of this exotic material, they can handle more power. For woofers driving lower frequencies, we utilize carbon fiber materials for ultimate strength and flexibility.
Combining our amplifiers and speakers with Crestron Home controls, the end user will have a distributed audio system that sounds great and is very simple to use.
