Anees is an indie singer and rapper from Washington, DC. His music includes refreshing melodies, sublime rhythms and fragile lyricism. His rare blend of pop and hip-hop with an R&B sound has often been compared to artists such as Mac Miller, Russ and Chance the Rapper. Movie

“All Breaths,” Oct. 13, 7pm

Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) and Aspen Films team up to bring filmmaker Shaunak Sen’s award-winning film “Everything That Breathes”,” to the Isis Theater. Sen’s films won the World Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival (2022), Best Documentary at the Cannes Film Festival (2022), and were selected for the New York Film Festival (2022). While the story focuses on India’s regional climate crisis, the film is an exploration of the connection between humans and other species, the impact of location on that connection and how climate change affects us all, no matter where the world is. where we live.

“I’m not interested in making traditional ‘nature-based’ shows or ‘wildlife’ documentaries,” Sen said. “My focus is neither limited to the lives of the human protagonists, nor the lives of the bird protagonists. The city itself – filled with many human-animal ensembles – appears as a character in the film.”

The film tells the story of two brothers – Nadim and Saud – who have dedicated their lives to protecting the black kite, a majestic bird of prey vital to New Delhi’s ecosystem, which falls from the sky at breakneck speed . Amid environmental toxicity and social unrest, the brothers care for the creatures day and night in their makeshift bird basement hospital, helping the birds return to the skies and providing a fascinating chronicle of interspecies coexistence. Tickets: $20; $15 for ACES and Aspen Cinema memberships. aspenfilm.org
