Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi and Garuda Indonesia extend codeshare agreement

Emirates national airlines Etihad Airways and Garuda Indonesia are expanding their codeshare partnership between Abu Dhabi and Jakarta and beyond their respective hubs.

The agreement, first signed in 2012, will expand to nearly double the number of joint destinations the two airlines will offer, beyond the Abu Dhabi and Jakarta hubs.

The agreement will now cover 42 destinations in the Indonesian archipelago, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, the US and Europe. In addition, Etihad Airways said in a statement that the partners also offer reciprocal mileage accumulation and redemption opportunities for Etihad Frequent Flyers and Garuda Miles members across both airline networks.

The carrier intends to explore further areas of cooperation, including freight, maintenance, repair and overhaul, and pilot/crew training services.
