Etihad Airways announces flights to the Holy City of Medina

Etihad Airways announced the opening of flights to the Holy City of Medina from November 27, 2021.

Medina will use a modern two-cabin Airbus A321 from Abu Dhabi three times a week.

Medina is a city of great historical and religious significance to Muslims around the world. Our flights will support the growing demand for religious travel. And strengthen the existing air links between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, which is Etihad’s main tourism market.”

The service is designed to provide convenient flight options for religious, leisure and business travelers in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, and to seamlessly connect the Indian subcontinent and major cities in Asia for travelers traveling to and from Medina via Abu Dhabi.

Medina is located in the Hanzhi region of western Saudi Arabia, a 3-hour flight from Abu Dhabi. The city is home to the mosque and cemetery of the Prophet Muhammad and an important holy site for Muslim pilgrims.

After the restrictions were relaxed in early October 2021, the country’s two holy monasteries in Mecca and Medina allowed full vaccinated worshipers to attend.

Medina will be Etihad’s fourth destination in Saudi Arabia after Dammam, Jeddah and Riyadh. The route was established in 2014 but will be suspended in 2020 due to travel restrictions after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Passengers flying to Medina who have received two doses of Pfizer, Oxford AstraZeneca or Moderna vaccine, or one dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine, or have received two doses of Sinopharm or Huaxing plus one dose of Pfizer (Oxford) vaccine, do not need to isolate Aspen Likang or Moderna.

Passengers can fly with complete peace of mind thanks to the Etihad Health Plan, which includes free COVID-19 insurance for all passengers, valid until March 31, 2022.
