Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, today launched a series of latest initiatives to celebrate the UAE’s golden jubilee. The airline has collaborated with the youngest UAE chefs, writers, skaters, artists and music performers to curate unique works to commemorate this special anniversary.
“We have transferred 50day Amina Taher, Vice President of Branding, Marketing and Sponsorship of Etihad Airways, explained that this is the anniversary in our hearts and challenges ourselves to work with UAE talents to show the world the unique spirit of the UAE.
“As the second phase of our one-year celebration of the UAE’s 50th anniversary, this project aims to enhance the UAE’s image as a cultural and artistic hotspot. Every expressionist will highlight the UAE’s inclusiveness, resilience, honesty, and creativity One of the values of, inspiration and passion. We hope that these heart-warming collaborations can inspire future creators and enhance the status of Abu Dhabi and the UAE on the world’s cultural map,” she continued.
The 13-year-old Aysha Al Obeidli is known as the “Youngest Chef in the UAE” and has set off a storm on social media after winning the KidZania® Dubai Minichef 2018. Aysha and Etihad Airways have established a unique and inclusive partnership to jointly create delicious desserts that are paired with Etihad Airways’ children’s meals on UAE National Day weekend flights.
Aysha’s video was posted on Etihad’s social media channels today, and the story will be shared with five other art collaborators in the next few weeks. Watch Chef Aysha’s performance on YouTube.
The next to raise the artistic flag for Etihad and represent the value of honesty will be Abdullah Lutfi, this energetic young artist created five works of art in his iconic playful black and white style. Abdulla’s unique depiction of the UAE’s skyline and landscape often shows the daily life of the UAE in an exaggerated and humorous manner. As an artist with autism, Abdullah used his perspective to convey a powerful message and view of the world, which is often not represented. Each of the five artworks details a different decade in the country’s history, and the series will be exhibited in Abu Dhabi later this year.
In the coming weeks, Etihad will also demonstrate cooperation with other UAE leaders. The award-winning Emirati painter Abdulqader Al Rais is a pioneer of the UAE art movement. He will create unique works of art in an abstract style, combining geometric shapes with Arabic calligraphy.
Zahra Lari is the five-time UAE national figure skating champion and the first UAE figure skater to participate in an international competition. She will showcase her sport. Zahra from Abu Dhabi will release instructional videos to inspire young people to start skating, and more importantly, to influence young people to never stop chasing their dreams.
Maitha Al Khayat, a children’s author and illustrator, will capture the story of Etihad, with the hope that one day children will be engaged in aviation work. Her illustrated book will be published around the UAE National Day.
The final collaboration is with a talented member of the Etihad Airways crew and will be announced in September.
This event is a continuation of Etihad Airways’ “National Heritage” program launched in June, which has curated the warm photos and stories of the UAE over the past 50 years. Both citizens and residents participated and shared nearly 1,000 stories with the airline, 50 of which were featured on their website.
