The national airline of the UAE, Etihad Airways, delivered the UAE Paralympic champions from Japan after the success of the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games. The UAE team won gold and bronze medals in track and field, weightlifting, cycling and shooting events.
Etihad flight EY 0871 took off from Narita Airport at 9pm local time on Sunday, September 5. The airline carried victorious UAE disabled athletes, coaches, medical and media personnel. The crew of Etihad Airways expressed a heroic welcome to the champion while traveling with the airline.
Upon arrival at Abu Dhabi International Airport, the delegation was greeted by the Chairman of the UAE National Paralympic Committee, member of the UAE National Sports Committee and Etihad Airways representative, His Excellency Mohamed Fader Hamel.
Amina Taher, Vice President of Branding, Marketing and Sponsorship of Etihad Airways, said: “As the national airline of the UAE, it is an absolute honor to receive the UAE champions on our flights. For the World Games, we are proud to have this opportunity again. As the official airline partner of the UAE Paralympics and on behalf of the entire Etihad family, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to these champions.”
August 22, 2021 Etihad hosted 32 members of the UAE Paralympic Committee on the way to the competition.
Last week, the UAE took part in the Tokyo Paralympic Games with a lineup of 12 people with the motto “Determination and Perseverance”. Athletes represent the country in track and field, weightlifting, cycling and shooting sports.
