Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has announced the launch of a new modern analytics and intelligence platform that will enable the global airline to implement a data-as-a-product ecosystem.
Etihad’s Enterprise Data Platform team worked closely with Microsoft on Emirates’ digital transformation, which made heavy use of Azure’s innovative intelligent data platform.

Through Microsoft’s cloud region in the UAE, Etihad’s modernization project leverages Azure’s cloud-native data services such as Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Event Hub, Azure Cosmos DB and Microsoft Purview.
“Our new setup provides a holistic continuum of analytics, intelligence and automation from ingestion and storage to consumption and governance,” said Karthic Sundararaj, Vice President, Technology and Architecture, Etihad Airways.
“Our data teams can now build data products for each business unit and share a single version of real data across the organization. We expect our new Azure-based platform to impact multiple KPIs from highest to lowest, enabling innovation , reduce costs and increase agility.”
