Etihad Airways is looking forward to welcoming more than 1.5 million passengers at Abu Dhabi International Airport as tourists start flying for the winter holidays with many events planned in the UAE capital from 21 November to 8 January 2023.

Passengers flying with Etihad Airways can look forward to flying with peace of mind with services such as the fast self-service bag drop facility. The service offers a faster check-in experience and can accommodate more guests, who will be able to skip the queues.
After online check-in, the self-service facility allows travelers to seamlessly retrieve reservations, print luggage tags and process bags in less than two minutes.
Etihad Airways has been awarded the “Best Airline Staff Service in the Middle East” by international air transport rating agency Skytrax. The award recognizes the care and attention an airline team has to a customer’s needs throughout the journey.
The airline advises travelers to follow the tips below.
Etihad Airways travel tips
• Obtain flight verification and check-in online: For destinations with travel restrictions, travelers should visit ‘Manage My Booking’ on etihad.com to upload their Covid travel documents. Approvals will be shared via email, reassuring passengers that all required documentation is in place. Approved passengers can check in online and obtain a boarding pass, then use the airport’s Fast Track “Verified Flight” counters or self-service facilities.
• Early check-in: From November 21, 2022 to January 8, 2023, guests can check-in from 24 hours to 4 hours before flight departure at the staffed travel center located below the check-in area in Terminal 3 machine procedures. They will receive free Etihad Miles or an extra 5kg of excess luggage and 2 hours free use of the Skypark car park. The facility is open from 10:00 am to 17:30 pm.
• Morafiq city check-in: Passengers traveling on Etihad Airways flights will be able to check-in seamlessly at Morafiq’s city check-in facility in Mina Zayed, near the Corniche. The facility operates from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm and guests can check in from 24 hours to 4 hours before flight departure. Excess baggage allowance, seat selection and upgrades etc. can be purchased at this facility. The service starts at AED 45 (US$12.20) per adult, AED 25 per child and AED 120 for a family of four. The facility offers ample free parking. Public transport bus numbers: 9 and 44 are easily accessible.
• Arrive at the airport early: Passengers should check in online and arrive early to complete airport procedures. During peak hours, check-in opens 4 hours before departure, closes 1 hour before non-US flights, and closes 2 hours before US flights. Check-in closes 20 minutes before departure for all Etihad Airways flights.
• Use Home Check-in: For an even more convenient travel option, guests can also check in for their Etihad flight from the comfort of home by visiting etihad.com/homecheckin seven hours before flight departure. This means passengers can drop off their bags, select their seats and collect their boarding passes and luggage tags from their home in Abu Dhabi. Upon arrival at Abu Dhabi International Airport, all non-transit passengers who have used the home check-in service will be able to skip the queuing with their luggage free, making their journey through the airport hassle-free. Baggage needs to be collected at the destination baggage carousel.
• Check flight times and departure terminals: In light of the significant increase in passenger numbers, Etihad Airways will reschedule the check-in of Economy Class passengers on selected flights. Please check for the latest information on etihad.com or the Etihad app.
• Flying to the US: Etihad passengers flying to the US can benefit from the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facility at Abu Dhabi International Airport, the only US immigration facility in the region that allows passengers to clear US immigration Pre-clearance service while they are still in Abu Dhabi means travelers can get home faster and easier. – trade arab news agency
